These are the stories of the citizens of Knowlton - A Sims 2 Prosperity Challenge. If you love it, if you hate it, if you saw something you wanted to talk about, PLEASE leave comments. I'm a sad pathetic human, and I live for comments.

For those of you not familiar with what a Prosperity Challenge is, it's a Sims 2 Challenge in which the main focus is to build a prosperous community from scratch. There are a few catches though, everything, including your starting families are determined by the role of a dice (or in my case a randomizer). For the complete rules and setup you have two options the Yahoo! Group or the BBS thread at the official site.

The quick low down on the newly created Knowlton; Knowlton is completely deserted. It's set out in a grid, so at some point in the past it may have even been a city, but that may have been hundreds of years ago, because other than roads for miles around all you see is grass plains. Four daring families have decided (okay have been forced) to make a new start here. So come meet these daring folks, hear their stories, and wish them luck folks, they're going to need it! Week 5 - Round 10 - 9 Oak Square (Collin)

A/N: If you're really interested in my excuses as to why I haven't updated since June, I've made them in the latest update of "The Day After Tomorrow Sim Style". At least I'm back now, but I probably still won't be going at the speed I started out at. For one thing, have you seen all the awesome shows premiering on tv this fall?

Last round Kirsty and Weldon wore themselves out trying to get pregnant. I actually lost track of how many times they tried before they finally succeeded. Both of them were also uber busy running the family's business. Kirsty reached her second TOC in Natural Science, which leave her lots more time for home and the business. Collin is still working on his first TOC. Little Jessica had a very sad and pathetic birthday and was so desperate for attention that she tried to befriend the nanny. Kirsty, feeling a little guilty about their neglect of Jessica decided it was time to prep a Turkey so that they could get Jessica into Private School as soon as the work schedule worked out right.

I don't know what it is, but this family always seem to end up being the first post-expansion pack family played. This makes at least three times. I'll make it up to them though. It's oh-dark-hundred (it's really 6:45 am) and this family is going on vacation. I was thinking of waiting till after the baby was born, but at least this way we don't have to hire a nanny.

I actually haven't play-tested Bon Voyage yet, so if you've got it already, this may be a bit boring for you. If you haven't decided yet though, this should be a fairly thorough look at what you'll be getting yourself into. I am using spiffyrific's vacation walkthroughs. Don't want to miss anything after all! So here we are on Twikki Island checking into the Blossom Wood Hotel. Mainly because it's the cheapest one. Doesn't even have a beach. That's ok, we'll be visiting plenty of the local sites.

Vacation Day 1/7

Jessica's already busy snapping photos so that she can show her little brother or sister what they missed out on. The first thing she takes a shot of? Her extremely pregnant mother. Wonder were Maxis hides the vacation photos. Never mind, turns out that sometimes photos don't turn out.

I should warn you all, vacation is expensive. It cost the family $1500 to get here about $750/night at the cheap hotel and they just spent $900 to go on a parasailing tour.

Time for a little room service. Besides, Jessie needs to change out of her winter wear, the poor girl must be melting, and Kirsty is in dire need of a washroom.

Yeah, Weldon takes his family on vacation and this is what they do... Now what's the poor guy supposed to do while he waits for them to wake up?

There's only really one possible answer at this hotel unless someone starts to do the hula or actually gives him a "Hang Loose", dig for buried treasure. I'm trying to keep the whole family on the same lot, after all, this is a FAMILY vacation.

So what do you do when the whole family had jet lag and slept most of the day? You visit a spooky pirate ship at night of course!

"Hoist that flag First Mate Jessica!"
"Ay Ay Captain Mom!"

Me thinks that the lady Jessica is enjoying this a wee bit too much. And her father seems to be ransacking the captain's quarters, which may not be the smartest thing to do in the middle of a dark and stormy night. (I couldn't resist giving them all pirate outfits. Kirsty's got one too, but she's knocked up, I really need to find a hack that will let pregnant sims wear anything.)

Not the brightest family on the block. I mean, honestly, who goes swimming in the middle of a storm? (yeah, I'm evil, *grin*)

Kirsty, didn't I tell you to order Pineapple Suprise? That doesn't look like Pineapple Suprise to me.

Hah! The Captain caught you didn't he? I'm not surprised he's angry, you took two Captain's Logs and two Gold Doubloons from in there.

"Arr, how dare ye plunder my quarters!"

We interrupt this vacation for a close look at one of EA's plunders. It seems a bit odd to me that there is a urinal in the women's bathroom. And now back to our vacation.

Looks like Jessie found some colored glass. Way to go kiddo! Keep combing the beach until your dad learns a sea chanty and then we are so out of here before one of you gets fried by lightning.

The best part is, you only need one person to develop a relationship with the Captain. After that they can just invite others to join in! Weldon and Jessica both learnt the chanty, but I think Kirsty will need to come back later in life and have another visit with the Captain.

Vacation Day 2/7

So of course, the first person to get gestured isn't one of the adults who actually want to learn the local gesture, no it's their daughter being hit on by Mr. Smarmy here. She's only 8, back off.

Today we'll be exploring Twikkii Beach Boardwalk. First things first, food! Cripes it's expensive to eat out all the time. Do none of these places have a grill?

Kirsty decides to take advantage of the new hammocks, although I was rather hoping she'd be able to nap on them. I guess not, so maybe meditation is a good idea.

Yum, marshmallows. Yes, we spent all day here. It takes a long time when....

Weldon's learning to play with fire. Good lord, I hope he can teach others, that took most of the day.

Wrong map Kirsty, we're on Twikkii Island.

Hee hee, someone hit a water pipe! Ok, this hotel sucks, tomorrow we'll choose a different one. Maybe something with a beach. Kirsty requires frequent trips back to the hotel, so it's good if there are things there to occupy Weldon and Jessica.

Vacation Day 3/7

Day Three and the family has moved to the Mini Twikkii Beach Hotel (I downsized Twikkii Beach Hotel and added some things). Jessica and Weldon are off on another tour and Kirsty is stuffing her face as usual. A word to the wise, don't order room service if there's already a plate on the table. The guy just walks in with your food and it disappears, but you still pay for it.

Getting smarter here, Gelatin should be a better food investment!

Kirsty's actually the one who wants to learn a massage, but all she does is eat, pee, and sleep. Bothersome woman!

Wow! Weldon's sandcastles are much better than his daughter's!
(This entry actually took me about 4 days of playing and 2 days of editing/uploading, partway through it I managed to find a copy of the Guide locally and found out that high creativity equals better castles)

Back to digging for Weldon. So far the family has discovered two maps to the Pagoda in the Shadows, how 'bout one for the Witch Doctor folks?

"OUCH!!!!!"

Vacation Day 4/7

Okay, so originally I sent Weldon and Jessica to the Ancient Ruins of Numchuck. Unfortunately when it was time to leave he abandoned Jessica. There she was stuck all by herself in the ruins surrounded by strangers with no way to get back to the hotel. In the end I had to exit without saving.

This time around Weldon is going to visit the ruins by himself while his wife and daughter nap at the hotel. I swear, from now on, only teens and adults are going on vacations. Children and Pregnant people are just too much of a pain!

"Wow! This thing is huge!"
Yeah, that's what you said last time.
"What do you mean? I've never been here before."
Yeah, and you've never abandoned your daughter on a community lot before either I bet.
"I would never do that, I'm a Family sim!"
It seems to me that the Family sims of Knowlton just aren't that great at taking care of their kids. (reference to April Belleosi)

"Please oh Mighty Monkey Gods, grant the safe birth of a healthy good looking child to my wife, and restore the Plumbbob Diety's sanity. She keeps talking nonsense about Family sims abandoning their children."

Finally! The whole family found something they could all learn. Let's Hula!!!

The final tour, a helicopter tour of the island. Now if only someone would dig up a map to the Mysterious Hut.

Oops! Sorry guys!

For once Jessica is in bed and Kirsty is awake. You two deserve a little romantic one-on-one time. And it's such a romantic setting too.

I just realised that Weldon is the only one who hasn't combed for seashells. He's been busy doing other stuff, honest!

Hey! Jessie worked hard on that pathetic sandcastle!

Vacation Day 5/7

Today is the day to relax around the hotel. The girls get to spend the day relaxing on the beach, and Kirsty's finally feeling well enough to learn how to dance with fire. Actually I'm impressed that she's making the attempt with her tummy that big!

The Crab Strikes Back

Hmm, looks like Weldon is chatting up the pretty locals. I hope your thinking of potential sons and not about keeping her for yourself...

I really can't tell if this guy likes kids or if he's just a perve who wants to marry into the family.

Back to digging slave. We need a map!!!

Left to her own devices, Jessica is pretty good at making friends with the locals. Probably because all she wants to do nowadays is "Hang Loose" and sing the Sea Chanty, and the locals just eat it up with a spoon!

Stop smirking at me darn you! I want the map to the Mysterious Hut! Oh well, at least if I ever send them on vacation again they'll be well prepared.

At least this one is closer to your age.

"You missed an awesome vacation little brother or sister, but I'll tell you all about it!"

"We must, we must, we must find the map.."

Not sure how this happened, but it appears that Weldon's been kicked out of his bed for the night. It is a cute picture though!

Vacation Day 6/7

"Mom, Dad, thank you! This vacation is out of this world!"

"My Hero!!!! Mysterious Hut, here we come!"

Mysterious Hut

Finally, a lot where Jessica can fish. She's been nagging me about it the whole vacation. I kept trying to tell her that you can't fish in the ocean. Some sort of by-law or something.

"Would you like some help?"
I had originally planned on having Weldon do this so that he would have all his Twikkii Island Mementos, but then I realised his mechanical skills are fairly low.

Please be careful Kirsty....

Lazy-No-Good-Bum!!!

"I'll hang you loose if you don't give me my reward soon..."

Well, it took most of the day for the Witch Doctor to get around to it, but it finally happened!!

"Yes, you'll do nicely to test out my new toy....."
Don't worry, she didnt' do anything evil, she made a new friend.

"Our next to final night on Twikkii Island and it couldn't have been more perfect..."

Vacation Day 7/7

NOT a sunburn folks, it's just really hot today. Kirsty tried to take a nap in the hotel, and next thing I knew she was on the point of heat exhaustion. Same thing happened to Weldon earlier, but it was because I forgot to have him change out of his everyday wear into his swimwear.

Time for this family to go swimming. It's a lot faster than endless glasses of water.

Swimming worked just fine on Weldon and Jessica, but apparently Kirsty requires water. For a second I was worried that she would end up being stuck red forever like one of the sims in my aborted Apocalypse challenge (not Day After Tomorrow).

The dreaded curse of the island, it's too hot to even sleep.

Well, our extremely long vacation is at an end. It was fun, but it's time to go back to the real world and let Kirsty have this baby.

Poor Jess, she's always the last one to get in.

Friday (Winter)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, now that we're back from vacation I thought I'd share with you what everyone found (except for the jewelry of course). This is Weldon's booty, he also got two Gold Doubloons. Weldon's made it to Gifted Globetrotter with 15/45 Mementos.
Kirsty's made it to Able Adventurer with 14/45 Mementos and this is her haul...
and Jessie's made it to Jaunty Jet-setter with 11/45 Mementos and this is her haul.
Back to normal. Kirsty is STILL working on her restocking badge, it seems to be one of the ones that takes a lot longer.
Kirsty is esctatic about having access to her energizer once more. Truth be told so am I. The true question is wether it will be worth purchasing vacation homes, especially since the holiday destinations are rather small.
Woohoo!! Promotions are good! That little kid is Nery Miguel who I've never seen before. Maybe we've actually gotten some new townies!
Yet another Headmaster visit. Doesn't this guy ever get sick of turkey dinners?
Of course they got in with a final score of 106.
Saturday (Winter)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"It's about freaking time! This must have been the longest pregnancy in sim history!"

Welcome to the world little Jeffrey!

Uh-oh...you know what this means....

Yup, a little girl named Paula. Did I give her cheesecake last round and forget or are they natural twins? Who knows.

"The Mighty Monkey Gods answered my prayers and gave me a healthy son AND a healthy daughter!"

This may get old fast. Every bloody morning they all want to Sing the Sea Chantey.

Poor Weldon, as soon as we opened shop Kirsty had to go change Paula's diaper, leaving him to run the business by himself. Unfortunately he doesn't know anything about it. I've actually reached a decision about home businesses. As soon as Jessica reaches teen, the family will be moving their business to an actual business lot. It's just to inconvenient to run it at home. It messes around with inviting friends over and everything. Speaking of which, little Jessica ran into a troublesome bug this morning. The new kid, Nery, has no phone. Yup, BV spawned townies with no phones. Fun!

Argh! Kirsty, they're just babies, give them a break already. As you can see, the family is very grateful to the Mighty Monkey Gods for granting them cute, healthy twins.

Kirsty's being a brat. She finally earned her Gold Register Badge and her Silver Restocking Badge and she refuses to flash her little doodads at me. Lord that sounds nasty.

"Dude! Why don't you have a phone? Everyone has a phone!"
So sue me, I'm not above cheating to work around bugs and glitches.

Sunday (Winter)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Midnight just between Saturday night and Sunday evening. Why is Weldon still up you ask? Well it's because this is the only time he has time to work on his skills and badges. Thank Maxis for the energizer.
"Do we ALWAYS have to sing the pirate chantey?"
"Of course we do Nery, can you think of a better way to start the day?"
She's such a little show-off! She just loves making Nery look unworldly!
Why is it that all sim children want to beat their friends at games? Competitive much?
Hey! Those aren't your photos. Here I was all upset that the family would loose their photos when they move tomorrow, but it's not really that big a deal after all. Yeah, the family is moving. I like this house and all, but it's not really the setup I like for game play.
Birthday time for the twins! Sorry it has to be outside guys, but it's really the only place you have space.
Happy Birthday Jeffrey!
Neat-10, Outgoing-5, Active-2, Playful-10, Nice-7
Capricorn
Happy Birthday Paula!
Gemini
I guess the party was too much for them, they're both too exhausted to learn anything tonight. Can you believe how bald Jeffrey is? And they both have such different personalities. Kinda funny how they both chose fancy clothing for their everyday wear though. I think we should have some interesting times with these two.
Time to nuke the kiddies!
Monday (Spring/Summer)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thank heavens we have two willing adults to do this. Especially since the moving truck is arriving at 8 am.

By Jove, I think they've got it!

So here the family is at their new home. This house was designed by BadDay of TSR, although her version was much more nicely furnished and on a smaller lot. I had to place it on a 4x4 lot and downgrade most of the furnishings.

"Oooh, those are pretty earrings, I'm going to put them in the potty."

It was almost one in the afternoon before I finally got everyone settled in. It is such a nuisance about toddlers and stairs. My toddlers always climbed stairs. Especially short little one step things. It didn't help matters that Weldon had to leave for work almost as soon as the family had unpacked their things.

New House=New People to Kick Over Your Garbage Can

Yeah, here I've said they didn't have that much cash and they have a Baby Grand. Really, they only have it because Jessica snuck it into her backpack when I wasn't looking.

Just thought I'd show you some of the better rooms in the house. This is Jessica's room. I did it up in the Far East style because she's been nagging me about going on vacation there.

Weldon on the other hand has been nagging about a vacation in the woods. This is the closest he's going to get for awhile. They've almost got enough money to buy a community lot for Kirsty's business. I'm afraid I miscalculated how much money they'd get from the sale of their old house.

Good gracious, it looks like Sierra's back to her stalker-like habits. I never even realised that she'd infiltrated the lot and spent most of the day fishing until I got a message that she was leaving due to an urgent need for the washroom.

Bless those Family sims! Weldon is in a pathetic state, and yet he's still happy to be spending time with the twins.
